So, Im driving and I forget to put the hood down after checking a couple things. I stop and open the hood to find the engine bay is SMOKING a bit. Im not engulfed in smoke, I just see a tiny bit emiting from where the exhaust connects to the engine. Im actually in the process of selling the car and this is not good. What could it be? Thanks... Im really hoping this wont cost me alot.

 

i had the same problem...check your valve cover gasket, maybe your oil is leaking and hitting the exhaust pipe when its hot.... you probably need a new one.....

 

All I had to do was tighten the bolts.

 

could be your cam adjuster gasket also good to replace when replacing the valve covers hopefully it is not the adjusters that is a expensive job

 

If it's the valve cover gasket you should be able to see oil around the cover, you may want to clean around the cover, and see if it leaks some more. I hope it's not the cam adjuster gasket as well.

 

Nope... it was the valve cover gasket. PHEW... Im glad it wasnt something worse.

Any tutorials on replacing one of those bad boys?
