Hi, I recently purchased a used 2000 Audi TT and noticed that after driving for about 5 - 10 minutes light smoke was rising up from the engine and there was a pretty heavy burning smell with it, and I haven't driven it again since. The coolant and oil seem to be fine, so I'm wondering if there's any other likely cause of this? Any help would be really appreciated.

 

most likely a leaky valve cover gasket. Pull off the engine cover and look around. It if its, its a simple job that takes about an hour for a first time and runs about $40 in parts

 

did you peak around at anything while it was running? my a4 had a similar issue and it was the cat. it was kind of glowing red because it was clogged from malfunctioning coil packs.its worth a shot anyway
