Default Engine oil loss closer to oil change

Is it common for Audi's to burn a little more engine oil as it nears the time for a oil/filter change..

I change my oil and filter every 5,000 miles.. at about the 4,200 mile mark my oil starts going low and I have to top it off every 7-8 days..

Does anyone else have this issue?

Oil level dropping down is quite normal when it is near to the replacement time. But if this is happening every 7-8 days, then I think there must be a leak somewhere.

It is normal. Actually Audi's standards for oil consumption are pretty high.

how many miles do you have on your car, and what kind of oil you are using. Where do you live also.
We need more information.

either Mobil 1 0w-40 full synthetic or 5w-40 full synthetic ... also I sometimes use Castro full synthetic in those two viscosity
