Default Engine Tempature Gauge....

If anyone can help me out here, i have a '98 Audi A4 2.8L Q and my screen is showing me my temp guage and beeping while flashing, does anyone know what the prob is, im a little new to audi so anything will help me out.

the tempature gauge is reading fine, when i turn the car on the screen is blinking the temp logo and beeping, fluids are full, but when im driving the temp does rise about 3/4 of the gauge. any know if its my temp sensor or my water pump. i mean i know someone out there can help me out???????

mines in the shop right now getting a new thermostat. Did the same thing. Temp went up to 3/4 of the guage and i had to turn on the heat to bypass the thermostat and cool it down again. FYI it's a big job on these audis cause it sits behind the tiing belt, something you want to let the pros touch.

hey sandman, i see that you have your throttle body bored and polished, where did you get that done at? or is it something that i can do my self?

Try using a paper clip to short together the two pins on the connector that plugs into the bottom of the coolant reservoir. You may just have a bad sensor in the coolant reservoir. 3/4 temp is hotter than normal, but usually the temp gauge has to be pegged for the overheating condition light to tcome on.
