Default Engine warming up very slowly.......

Hi,

i'm Stefan and have just bought my first Audi.It is a 2002 model A4 2.0 Sport.

Please can anyone help.....................?

It seems to take forever for the engine temperature to come up from cold , and when it does it sits at around 70C for a while before finally coming up to around 90C.

It comes up quicker with the heating switched off but still takes ages. With the heater on at say 22C it takes a good 10 minutes for any warmth to come through. My old car used to warm up in a few miles.

I think this points to the thermostat but would like to know if anyone else has any views on this ?

If it is the thermostat does anyone know where i can get one from ? Mail Stealer quoted me £42+vat ! Seems a bit steep ?

Any tips / secrets for fitting it ?

Cheers.

T'stat stuck in open position. You must be burning gas big time.

I agree 42 quid is a bit much. Here in the states it is $29.59 at my store.

Just make sure the arrow is pointing up and the T'stat is pointing towards the radiator.
