Default EPC light and No start

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum and I'm trying to help my friend out. Its a 2001 A4 and we are all trying to figure out what the hell the problem is. We have had it to Audi since he bought it a few months ago from them used, and we had it to the Audi school here in AZ. Anyways, since he got it the EPC light comes on randomly and does have a drivability issue with it. Friday he was coming off the highway and the EPC and Check Engine light came on. One kid at school had an Audi scan tool and there were five codes, one of them (the only one i can remember right now) was the camshaft speed sensor. Well we rolled it into the Audi school and they looked at it a bit and thought that it wasn't the Camshaft speed sensor, they thought it could be a common ground problem. Well they became lazy and did nothing with it because they couldn't duplicate the problem. Well on the way home today, he was driving at a constant speed and it jerked. Then he got off the higway and drove it 20mph home still jerking. Now he turned it off and tried to start it and it backfires and stumbles all over itself.

I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue or if you guys have any clue what could be wrong. Thanks again everyone.

These problems are hard to diagnose from a distance.

Since it is stumbling and backfiring, I would start by checking the plugs and fuel system. I would also pull off the top timing belt cover and inspect the belt for broken teeth.

Thanks, really I'm just looking to see if anyone else has had these problems since we are new to Audi's and so far they are the most finiky cars we've ever seen. Thanks a lot, if anyone else has had some similar things happen please let me know.

Default EPC Light and Car won’t Start/Crank

I am having the same issue. I have a 2010 A4 Manual. I turned off my car for 5 min. Went to go turn it on again and every time I pushed the key in nothing happened. Any ideas?
