what year is it? if its a certain newer year then the stock one is acceptable but not great. from what i have read most 1.8ts come with the 710 DV which is only good to about 8psi, which can be too little for a stock chip as it can spike to 9-10psi, going over what the dv is rated to can cause a boost leak or an improper functioning DV, you could be losing boost and power without even knowing it. at some year audi switched to the new 710N which is said to be able to hold up to 18psi fairly reliably, this also came on the TT in earlier years. im not sure when they changed the valves over so you'll have to ask someone else which your car has(again what year is it?) if your car has the older valve chances are your not even feeling the full affect of your chip or your intake, essentially your car. so you don't need to buy an expensive $100 DV just get a stock(yet better) new 710N valve, you can get em from HERE look under engine, its among the other DVs, its about $30 so its a good buy.

you got the old 710 on the car then, your probibly losing a LOT of performance, i would get the 710N asap, try that link its cheap and i would say in your case HIGHLY necessary, let us know how you like your new car when you get it in.

By the way, where can I fin d the DV on the engine? Is it attached to the inlet pipe just after the MAF? Sorry for the ignorance.

but it should make a really noticable difference on your car, iv heard its like being stock then chipped all over again, so you should enjoy it. im not sure where the DV is on your specific model/year but on my bros passat 1.8t i can tell you where it is(its very possible that its the same location) looking at the car open the hood and look behind the passenger headlight, now snake your way down, below the hoses and wires etc. you should see a thicker hose(air ducting) down there, attached to that hose is the DV, thats how you see it. the best way to change it is jack the car up(support with stands for safety) remove the plastic skid plate(flathead screwdriver) then the thing should be just right above your head look at pics of dvs on the net to see what they look like.

 

No its ok, alot of people ask this. If your looking at your engine bay, find the turbo, then get under your car and look up and there will be a big fast hose when your looking straigh up( it connects to a hose that runs the whole width of your car over to the intercooler) There will be a valve right above where that hose connects. If you still cant find it reach your hand up to the turbo and follow the hose down till you find it. That may sound hard but its extremely easy.
