Ok, so I found it. Looks like the part number ends in 710B....is that right? Is this the old style? Thanks for all your help to a new audi owner!! So according to the diagram that Jest put in, the turbo is on the left side, and has to push all the air tothe other side of the engine? Wow, I am no genius, but isnt there a better design for that? To me, it just seems like a lot of hose travel for the air to finally get to the throttle body.

yeah due to the engine head design the exhaust exists opposite the intake, which has many advantages, only small disadvantages. the extra piping the air has to travel to get to the engine will make the turbo spool slower(turbo lag), well it will seem like it anyway. you might also lose a little pressure over the long area, but i don't think its really that bad.

yeah i think (not familiar with the 710"b") you need a DV with the part number 710N on the top, get it and i think you will be happy you did, its only $30 bux or so anyways.

The 710N will eventually fail too and won't hold as much boost as a forge, bailey's or evo MS DV would. All those brands of DV's i just mentioned have lifetime warranty's and are fully serviceable so you really don't need to get another one for a long time. I have the forge 007, got it from ecs for $135 with free shipping and i love it.

What car do you have? So you noticed a big difference? Do you have any bolt-ons or a chip?

yeah all those DVs are nice, but if it will hold 14.7 -16 psi reliably it should do just fine, its not till your spending a bunch more money that you'll be getting into the 20 psi range which is where an aftermarket one would be required. the 710N is just so cheap for a pretty decent DV so why not get it, use it till it fails and then maybe you can afford a better one or get another cheap one. from what i hear they last a pretty long time, even chipped.

i will let you know how my 710N does when i start modding(got to get back to school first) my boost will be raised a bit as i will be using a socketed giac chip(maybe a custom boost controller/fuel management setup, not sure yet), race 75 valve(good for around 1-2psi more peak) full 3in catless exhaust(good for another psi peak), and depending on time and wether or not i can get lab credit i will be port matching the turbo to the manifold and the manifold to the head(should be good for faster spool and possibly small peak boost increase).

Ok so I installed a new DV on the car tonight. It is louder now, I can definitely heard the ppffttsshh between shitfs. My only concern is that there isnt a drastic difference in power like we had discussed in here. Not really much at all. Now the new DV has a different spring I can put in there. Should I try that? It is adjustable too. Should I try to play with it as well? Any advice or comments why I am not noticing a bigger difference in power?

No i didn't notice a difference from the intake or DV other than sound. The only way you would notice a power gain from your DV is if the one being used has failed, can't hold boost. So far i got the evo MS intake, forge 007 DV, milltek catback, techtonics tuning 2.5" downpipe, mid muffler removed, giac chip, v&s SS, ecs n75 race valve, and a few other things.

Well most people see average spikes of around 18-20psi and hold anywhere from 16-19psi, all depends on the weather if you have boost leaks or not. I think i have a little one b/c im only hitting 16 sometimes 17psi.

that was fast, what DV did you get? you could try a new spring, it is possible that somehow your stock DV was holding the increased boost, but inlikely.
