Finally got my car:)
Hi all - forgive me if this is boring but I'm stoked about it and wanted to share. I haven't been on since July when I was looking at a 99 2.8 Quattro, and had decided to pass on it. Well, some things happened, and it was good that I waited. I just purchased the same car I looked at back then, but this time got it at a tremendous price (as I see it anyway). I was looking at the car in July when the owner was asking $9000. Silver 99, 2.8 Quattro 5-speed, black leather, cold weather package, and most of the other available options. I passed because I wanted to sell my 300ZX first and use that money to pay for part of the car. The car popped back up as available last Monday, priced this time at $5000. I called to see what the situation was, and basically the owner needed to get out of the car fast so that he could pick up a new car that he and his wife decided to get. Additionally, the car now had new tires and the full timing service done. So by waiting, I got tires, timing service, and $4000 off the original asking price.
The car is nearly mint, everything works and is in great shape, no wear on the leather, and only one small rear bumper scuff where someone backed into it in a parking lot (pics enclosed, if I did the uploads right). I've already placed an order for clear markers and HIDs and will be looking into wheels, some suspension parts, and some body components in the spring. I purchased the 2.8 knowing it's not a rocket and won't likely ever be, but that's fine with me. At this stage I just want to have a nice car I can enjoy and customize. I've been through the phase of my life where power was all that mattered, and no longer need a ballistic missile in the garage, and this car was a great fit. Now it's on to having a little fun with some bodywork and just enjoying the car.
If you're still reading, thanks I hope to be more of a regular here now that I have my car. Now it's time to start browsing some of the site sponsors and find out what to do next to the car. Talk to you all soon.

RE: Finally got my car:)
Exactly my aim with this (I have a 2 year old and a 3 year old, so I don't plan on power modding the car. I figured this time I'd try a car for style instead. Who knows though - I am really enjoying the car, and I may end up looking around for a 1.8T or an S4 at some point if I start to feel the mod bug biting again

Yeah, don't tempt me LOL. I'm trying to behave here and stick (for now anyway) with suspension and style mods. I'm sure at some point the engine will start calling me. We'll see at that point, but for now it's going to stay mild mannered.
