Finally took my engine covers off
Yeah, your smell probably comes from leaking valve covers. If it gets worse, you can easily lose a significant amount of oil on long road trips... and when you run low on oil, you'll start to gum up your cam shafts... then it's the oil pump going... then you have to call me and get a CARFAX mileage verified low mileage engine...
And I would rather not have you as a customer
Get your valve cover gasket checked and replaced

accually, you can wash the engine bay. buy a engine cleaner and a small brush. sprey it all over the engine (watch out the electrical parts. cover them before you start the clean the engine) then brush it nicely. then use water to clean.
I dont see any oil leak apart from the right side rocker cover where oil has been spilled while topping up - rattle for a few seconds is normal with cold engines till the oil gets round and will go quiet very quick if you use good oil - serpentine belt guide pulley/tensioner is doing more of a rattle and needs to be checked out before it gives out - coolant is low so that's probably where the smoke is check for leaking coolant pipes
