Ok....so i have a 1998 A4 Quattro 1.8t Tip...and what i was wondering was would a ko4 be able to run on the Tip tranny? cuz i think the AWE-tuning website says it does, but i am just making sure by asking the peeps who have it...

cuz what i was thinking of doing was to get a chip first, prolly APR or GIAC, then the Tip Chip if i feel like it...
then the KO4...is this a good lineup for now?

however, i am only 17, so i am kinda low on cash, but im trying really hard to earn money

A K04 will be fine with the tip. Go with a GIAC chip. They give you a discount when you upgrade your chip to the K04 software. Don't forget to upgrade your diverter valve also. Do not get a blow off valve or you will be shunned by the entire euro community. Don't ask why either. I you want to know, do a quick serach.

 

don't forget exhaust. I would do that before a k-04 so I wouldn't be trying to push all that power through my small stock exhaust. Better thing to do IMO

 

The order I like most personally is
1) CHIP
2) Diverter & or Intake (some people don't like using aftermarket cuz of possible heatsoak but damn it makes the car sound sexy plus your DV makes that cool ppssshhh sound when you let off the gas kinda like a blow off valve does)
3) Exhaust
4) FMIC
5) Turbo
Additional #5 option to keep costs down you could also get a big injector file and use some audi tt injectors for some additional performance in the place of a k-04 until you can pony up the cash for one. Atleast thats what the Audi/Vdub specialist at Evolution Motorsports told me when we were discussing what I could and should do way before I even got my chip.

ok another question...do i have to get the GIAC chip at the same time as the KO4 if i get that? or can i just get the chip, then upgrade to KO4 later on?

you can get the chip first as long as its not the k04 file. Like the regular pump program is fine. the only thing is it requires you to run atlleast 91 octane feulk but it wont beat the hell out of you car. doing the k04 file with the k03 will kill your turbo just do a search no good. but yeah a regular chip is fine and is pretty much the KING of first mods for our cars. No one will disagree

I have only been there to listen to exhaust sound clips. I dont know a whole lot more than that. And you are not thinking way to far ahead, I bet when all of us got our cars we ripped up this forum for info on what we can and can't do, what we should do, in what order, how much is it, haw fast can we go, what can we beat what can't we. It's cool i actually did most of that beforeI even bought my car lol so its cool. atleast you have a good understanding of where you want your car to be at and how to get there.
