Front brake/suspension noise.
Hi
I've recently purchased a 54 Reg Audi A4 Avant 1.9TDi Sport, and have been experiencing an annoyingfault.
I have an intermittentclunking noise coming from around the front brake/suspension area. It only occurs when braking toa standstill and again when driving off. It is more evident when braking lightly and always occurs twice, as if something is loose, movingout and back into position.
I took it to my local garage to have the brakes checked, and they found a bent traction control arm. This, as well as replacing the front pads, has failed to core the problem.
I still have 6 months Audi warranty remaining, but am unsure whether the fault will be covered, as I suspect it’s not a manufacturing defect.
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Did you take it back to the shop? If they replaced parts and didn't fix the problem, I wouldn't have even drove it home. Right back to the shop until they get it right.
A clunk could be a lot of things. Usually if it is clunking start and stop, you will hear it going over bumps and stuff too.
It can be CA, TRE, sway bar links, brake brackets, shock supportsetc etc. You need to pop the wheels and check all over for something loose on both sides of the suspension. Get in there and tug on stuff and make sure all the bolts are tight. I can't tell you something more specific from your description and if a shop already looked at it, they usually find something if its obvious.
And BTW, this is kind of apointless post. If you have a warranty, take it to the dealer. Don't post that you don't know if its covered. The sure fire way to find out is to take it to the dealer and when they find out what the problem is, they will tell you whether it is covered or not. If it isn't covered, at least you know what is wrong and can either go do the work yourself or take it to a shop that charges less.

I have the same problem belive it or not o n my 1.8t sedan quattro. I belive it only came out after i changed my brakes. It feels like the drivers side axel, or the diff. I am going to figure it out tonight after i get off work. Anyone else ha ve any idea's? Its annoying
Difficult to figure out what it might be. If this is a used car with aftermarket brake pads, it may be that the pads dont quite fit in the carriers. This causes a more mechanical "click" when applying brakes. Tracking down noises is difficult in person, let alone over the net.
You have a warranty. Have them continue to replace parts until its fixed.

Took car back to Audi... Problem turned out to be the subframe. They said a section wasn't bonded properly. They replaced it under the warranty and all is now ok.....
Happy days..
