Well this past fillup was definately the worst it has ever been... we'll see how it goes from here. I'll tear into it if it is bad again. I am on reading week right now... so it would be a good time for me to look at it I guess... I dunno. I might raise it and put the snows on this sunday... I'll see how energetic I'm feeling.

It could be because we changing season the type of Gas
in Canada changers Summer to winter and the fuel has differnt
vaporizing rates so whn you trying to fill up the fuel reaches a
liquid level in the tank and the expansion tank fills with vapor and causes
kinda like a vapour lock and the trigger on the gun will automatical
think its full?

EH maybe, but he sounds like hes having the same issue as me which is definently a mechanical issue because it happened after i messed around in the tank. Maybe the above explanantion explains the other peoples issues of having to pull the nozzle out or twist a little.

I will def do write-up when i open the bastard

My wife is having the exact same problem. She bought her 1998 audi A4 a month ago and the first time we filled up the tank was in Oregon (for those of you not from the area it is 1 of the 2 remaining states where you cannot pump your own gas). The gas attendant starts filling it up and "click" a 1/2 gallon in we knew this wasn't correct because the gas gauge was almost empty. He starts it up again and "click", i get out and talk with him and take over myself. I pull the nozzle out of the tank and all I hear was "ppssstttt" I could almost feel the pressure being released. I put the nozzle back in and it pumped a little longer and then "click", I pulled the nozzle out and more air was released. I then barely put the nozzle in so there was a gap for air to escape while the gas was basically gushing in and collecting outside the hole a little. This worked ok but still would not go for more than 1-1.5 gallons before stopping.

Obviously this wasn't a pump issue, it was something with the car. I never witnessed this problem before. I have been searching around and I have not had much luck lately. I heard from one person about a possible "breather" hose of some sort that comes off the gas tank. Is there a valve or something responsible for removing air from the gas tank?

I will post any conclusions I have, if any. I will be checking back and hopefully someone finds the root of this problem.

my b6 does the same thing about every two months, what I do is pull the nozzle out a little bit and pull the handle about half way, if I pull the handle all the way way it will stop about 10-15 times, don't know why it does that, I live in socal and the climate doesn't change that much.

Yeah, my B5 did the same thing when I first got it as well - it works really well when you don't put it all the way in, and tilt the back of the handle down, so the tip is resting against the top of the filler tube...works the best for me!
