I know this sounds like a completely noob question but here goes. I generally don't drive my cars very hard at all, and I just got a 2005 A4 2.0t. This car makes me want to drive hard though, just because it is so awesome to drive. Does occasional full throttle runs and shifting at say 4500-5000 RPM damage your engine or your car? This is not how I drive regularly, but sometimes, maybe like once or twice a month, I like to have fun in the car. I just want to make sure I'm not damaging or decreasing the car's life.

 

occasional is ok. just make sure u get regular oil changes and all the other jazz

obviously if you beat the heck out of ur car then yeah damage will eventually happen. but every now n then is okay. just do regular maintence that's all

 

I've got a bike with over 35k miles and it sees 14k all day and never goes below 7 or 8k. Doin wheelies,redlining it out every chance i get and it runs mint. Same with a car,beat it right and it will last a lot longer then a car driven like a pu@@y but not taken care of and driven improperly.

 

Are you kidding me? There is no 'right' way to beat on a car. How can you even compare a car to a bike? 'Redlining it out every chance i get' is no way to treat a car or bike. You sir are an idiot[:@]

I've put over 45k almost 50k on my last TRACK/STREET BIKE and it still ran mint and started right up. Sold it 2 a friend who rides it everyday and it still runs. Go on the FZ-1 forums and several members have over 100k miles and i've been with one of em andhe rides the **** outta em. Shift properly,not the fast and the furious 3mm shifter,shiftin in 9/1000s of a second,don't heat soak,don't run let the temp gauge get 2 high up and change the oil more frequently when driven extremely hard,flush coolant,change tranny fluid,actaully perform routine maintence b4 it becomes a problem,make sure valves stay adjusted and ur engine/tranny will last a long time.
