gears grinding

Default gears grinding

my second gear and third hear sometimes grind when i shift in. how can i fix this?

might be your synchros or your clutch. What year/engine/mileage?

its is a 99.5 2.8q with 53k

First, just try changing the transmission oil. Alot of times, these problems are solved by changing the transmission oil because the oil looses its lubricating properties just like regular oil. Not to mention its alot cheaper to simply change the oil than to rebuild a transmission if new oil is all you need. Use 75w90 synthetic.

i had the same problem, the gears would grind every one and a while even if the clutch was already in. i recently got my clutch replaced and i havent had a problem with the grinding yet, so that might be the wource of your problems. it was also after my first year ever driving stick so i beat the **** out of my clutch...which might be the cause of it haveing to be replaced, meaning that there can potentially be no correlation between the grinding and having to replace the clutch....if that made sense
