Well i just bought a new audi, (its a 2000 a4 1.8tqm)cause some guy decided to hit my old one and total it. and as far as the engine its all stock except a 710n dv and a rs4 stage 2 cluth,and i was wondering ifi couldjust run a giac chip just how it is withoutexhaust or anything cause thisguy at a local audi shop told me that the 2000sor atw engines are sensitive to a chip at the altitudecause i live in coloradoso if anyone could help me out that would be great. thanks

 

I dont see any reason why it would be that sensitive if you get the chip profile designed for a completely stock A4. We do have a few colorado users here on the forums so hopefully they can chime in to confirm this.

 

on a side note... how much is your GIAC chip costing you for your '00 ATW.. I have the same car and have been thinking about doing it. are you having it done at a local shop or do you have to mail your ECU somewhere?

Yes there is info on chips elsewhere in the fourm.. but very little for our ATW engine specificly that i've seen. also are you getting a trip chip.. mine is auto

 

well i gonna just take my to a local shop and they said they would flash it for $500 but he said he would put a testpipe on for like $225 so i think i will just do them both at the same time because i put a testpipe on my other a4 and i had a hell of a time with it so i dont really want to go through that again. oh yeah mine is a manual though.
