While working on putting in my ko4, i got a phone call from AWE about my ecu. I was told they cant put the j-31 file on my ecu, i said well thats all good. I was then told GIAC is working on making files like the J31 file so that it will work on all numbers of ecus and not just specific to the year. Well after that, about 30 min later, i get another call from AWE, saying we cant just do the ko4 file, you have to buy the 3x thing from giac. SO an extra 150 dollars later im getting 3 different files lol and no way to change back and forth. Im so pissed, i dont want to buy the flash loader or a vag com to change to stock or race mode. Just pissed off.

Stock, Ko4, Race. thats what he called it, theres also the 5x thing, race, stock, ko4, kill, valet, if you get the drift. When i get my ecu back ill give you the number so youll know what to expect.

 

ya let me know the ecu # for sure. So if youre not getting the j31 file, did they tell you the name of the file they are giving you?
Did you get the K04 done yet? I test drove a 99 w/k04 today. Was a lot of fun but the clutch sucked. Amazing how much more power you get with a k04 over a k03.

 

No just some stock ko4 program according to the guy, but they couldnt just put the programming on there like that without the 3x package, and i just dont care, they are paying for overnight so screw it. He did say that they are working on a j31 file for special ecu numbers like i said. And im one bolt away from getting the ko3 out. Ive been doing a little everyday and its just shitty having to deal with the bolts in sucky places. And my clutch is crap as well. 110k on stock clutch, i laugh, but im not paying for that, because my dad said, when you stick it into 5th at 30 or 40 and it slips then we talk about new clutch, well ill just wait for the ko4 lol. But ill make sure to post friday night about the ecu for you.

 

you could switch with the free software from giacusa.com and a ebay cable. I use it for the 3x on my ecu.
