Got the turbo in and working, Actually alot easier than I thought it would be. I took lots of pictures, and the DIY is coming. So far the turbo is much louder, kinda sounds like a semi. I am still breaking it in so I haven't gone full throttle yet, but all I have to do is just crack the throttle and I get like 5psi. After removing my old turbo I think I know why I wasn't getting the performance I used to. The exhaust side has multiple cracks in the housing. and the wastegate flap was loose. Very happy to have a new one.

woot looks nice. what kind of break in are you talking about?

 

I don't really know if you have to break in a turbo, so I didn't really drive it that hard. I don't know, but I'd rather not blow it up yet.
Also checl out the difference in the compressor wheel.

I don't know if there is, just wanted to be safe.

 

Dont the K04s hove the same compressor as the k03. The only difference is the fins on the turbine side. I got my tubo from gpop and didnt bother breaking it in. I havent had a problem yet

That's exactly it, it's just a different compressor fan wheel (however you want to say it.

 

Also has beefier journal bearing so it can run higher boost reliably.
Do you notice any power increase even though its running on a k03 chip?

 

A bunch so far, I'll let you know more after I do more testing tomorrow.
