I recently got a 2000 A4, and on cold mornings when I put it into 2nd gear it sometimes grinds and slips out. It's fine in 1st and 3rd. Once the clutch warms up 2nd gear goes in just fine, though.

Now, the clutch is starting to show signs of needing replacement, but I also heard 2nd gear is a weak link in A4 tansmissions. Thoughts?

 

had a problem like u. mine was in first i would slip or pop out but second on up were fine, took it in and had the clutch replaced and then it was fine.

 

I'm glad to hear it's likely a clutch issue. That means I can get an aftermarket one
