Default RE: GTRS Question (done search)

aw yes that clears up alot, thanks. The reason is i have a deal on the GTRS kit, so im trying to figure out what kind of setups i can go with. Ive been looking at the 034 headers for some time, which they can custom tailor to each project. What im trying to figure out is if i get the ATP gt28rs, its made to replace the stock k03, and use the same mani, so say i use an after market manifold, like the ones shown in the link you sent, they would have to be fitted for the GTRS kit, which uses 3 bolts to bolt on the mani, same with dp. (ive heard some bad things about atp's mani, mainly it not fitting the way it needs to and cracking)

gtrs- is the elim version of the gt28rs. it will work with the stock exhaust manifold. if your gona upgrade the exhaust manifold that defeats the whole purpose of getting an elim. you would want a gt28rs

gt28rs- full version which uses either t3 or t25 flange (depending on internal or external wg) atp mani has been known to crack. i would get one from 034. as for connecting it to your stock cat, you can weld a new flange on your cat for cheap, or just buy a testpipe

Isnt everything prone to cracking? I thought that the atp manifold was alot less prone to crack then say a custom tubular mani. Because of the welds being the weakest part. But im pretty sure this was discussed at one point, that it was faulty manifolds for a time from atp. I could be wrong, but truth be told they have some fitment issues. Ask arif, he had loads of problems trying to align everything, bolts etc.

The 034 manifold would be best, i have also heard about issues with the atp manifolds.

wasnt there a lot of discussion that 034's cast mani was ATP's old design?

tubular mani is about $900 i believe...

On any welded joint, the weld itself is typically much stronger than the metal it is welded to. If the tubular manifolds are breaking on the welds, they aren't being welding with the right heat, or else they have other material and welding quality issues.

oh yeah, tubular manifolds are more prone to cracking than cast manifolds. if you want the most reliable one and better spool, i would probly go with the pagparts cast mani. if you wanted much better top end power, with slight risk of cracking, go with 034. but those 034 mani's are very well built, and i couldn't see you having problems with them.
