Take the car to Autozone, and have them scan the car for codes (should be free). Write down the DTC codes and bring them back to us. If you really want to get rid of the codes before the dealer you can disconnect the battery for a half hour.

"no its an extra 3 grand for the inspection." ehhh I hope that is sarcasm. By the way its 4 grand last I heard.

no, i drove under 1000 miles this past month....the tech explained that the oil was changed almost a year ago, so the service light has come on to tell me to change the oil, and that this should be the 60k service.
Also I guess that I paid about a grand for the CPO inspection and another for the warranty(the warranty is two years or 100k miles....maybe I should have just tried to find a cheaper car and bought a warranty on my own...dunno, guess the appeal was in the comfort on knowing it is CPO, but apparantly that means ****).

Well don't get bummed out just yet. Have you gotten angry at the stealership yet? Sometimes you just have to put on a show to get what you want. I suggest a sudden outrage in front of new potential customers. It may sound stupid, but they'll be rushing to help you. It sounds to me like you are getting the run around.

If all else fails we can help you, so that you can complete the service yourself. There really isn't much to them anyways. Filters/plugs/etc. All easy stuff.

Cheer up, you drive an Audi now! As much as the dealers suck and I hate driving them, I wouln't trade driving an Audi for any other brand.

sorry if I came off as bummed, Im actually really stoked with the car, it runs great, looks great, and I'm proud to drive it.

I think I'm just bummed with the dealership. The day of the sale I left with a bitter taste in my mouth. They tried to screw me on the trade in on my chevy silverado(the truck is in great shape, its an 89 v8 150kmiles, all auto, extended cab, and at retail price around $3,200). During the deal I accepted a $1000 for trade in(which i was bummed on because i love my truck), but I agreed. Well, when all was said and done and I was going over the break down of charges, I noticed that they tried to slip by on giving me $500 bucks for my truck...not cool. I hadnt brought them the truck yet, and I told them I wasnt going to give it to them for $500, the sales manager told me the deal was done and that the wholesaler was on his way, in other words he told me I was fukd. Only problem was that he wasnt aware that I had not signed over the title. Anyway, I did make somewhat of a scene and I kept the truck...so if I have to make another scene, thats what it will come to.

with all that said, thanks for the help guys.

Just change the oil and filter, and reset the "service light". It goes on automatically based on the number of miles since it was last re-set. Frankly, they probably changed the oil, but likely used dino rather than synthetic.

Have fun with the car. Try to dissociate the Audi driving experience from the Audi dealer experience.

Again, find a good independent audi mechanic. You are under no obligation to have routine maintenance done at the dealer. Just keep your records or work done.

Db007

So I am guessing it wasn't an Audi Dealer? The Factory warranty is 4yrs 50,000 on newer A4's. I am not sure if 2001 is or the older one...would have to look that up.

Yeah, alot of dealerships are, well, crappy. I stopped working for one because of the behavior of the GM on the Domestic side (GM/Buick). A real crook.

Look, if anyone wants advice on what to do at a dealership just ask. I was the top sales person before I left but I left for a great reason.

Don't worry about the Warranty thing. If you want to search the internet for a better warranty. You can dump your extended warranty...something few people know...if you financed it or not. The Warranty company willl give you back a prorated amount which is about all for you...
