alright, so this is my first post. Please be nice!

i normally work on old air cooled cars but i owe a nice young lady a favor.

her A4 wont start. Here is the email she sent me.

"think I set off some internal alarm thing, but I could be wrong. Ok, so it was doing this weird buzzing thing when I tried to start it after work last week, and then I asked someone to try it, and it started first try. Made me look like an ***. So I drove it down to a bbq that same day, and it wouldn’t start again, so I started locking ****, unlocking...closing doors...and it started. I parked it that afternoon, and it hasnt started since. We tried to jump start it, checked the fuses...all it does is make this electrical whining noise. It doesn't even turn over. But it says it has battery power."

i went buy on my way to work but in only had 5 min to poke around.


yes battery is charged. When you hit the key a buzzer goes off and a light goes out(i think it was the battery light) but the car dosent turn over. she has only one set of keys for it. My brother had a problem wehre one set of keys wouldent start his a4.

any help on where to to look and what to do would be appreciated. thanks -nick

 

oh, and she also said a "spring or something" was replaced in the ignition switch 3 years ago. i dont know if that helps

could be starter...does it have 2 keys?? lol, i have 2 keys for my car and one opens the doors and one unlocks the doors...you gotta be kinda retarded for this to be the problem...but you never know if shes a women

 

got exactly same problem bro....had to bridge the starter and install a temporary switch....amazing nobody knows what 's going on
