Help: 1999 avant 1.8 trace of leak under
Bought an 1999 avant 1.8t a month and half ago. Got
under the car today. Found trace of leak both between
the front and rear wheels. Seems a nut cap missing
under the transmission.
It is a manual transmission awd. 120000 miles. Timing
belt done at 96000 mailes.
Should I stop driving and go to a shop, or I can schedule
a diagnostic with a shop while driving?

RE: Help: 1999 avant 1.8 trace of leak under
It is hard to orient myself from the photos.
Is your car quattro or front wheel drive? Is it tiptronic or manual?
If it is a tiptronic, there is a small cap over the transmission fill plug that keeps out dirt. If your car is driving fine, then small leaks can be fixed as needed.
for maintenance, I'd suggest changing all the fluids anyway including front and rear and central differential gear oil, transmission fluid/gear oil (depending) brake fluid, power steering fluid (Pentosyn CHF 11S only), brake fluid. Also if the timing belt/tensioner/idler hasn't been done, and you are over 60K miles those should be replaced ASAP.
