help bought an 98 a4 2.8 quattro , problems
hi, i'm new to this so hang with me on my first thread. but i just recently bought a 98 audi a4 quattro with the 2.8l manual and 123000 miles for 6 grand. i thought it was decent for the money , the dealer got it at an auction so thast how i'm guessing it was less expensive.
question number 1: i was driving and all of a sudden the air bag light came on ... and then the check engine light? ... alll in less then an hour apart. is this just saying it wants me to update the computer and pay 200 bucks or is somthing else going on?
2: the idle of the car is kind of rough ... its nothing that'd you would be concerend about but its enough to make me want to fix it. the throttle body was cleaned and that helped but there is still a little bit of a rumble when under 1000 rpms? any ideas on what to do ?
and if you have any other tips as to what i should check on the car before i lose my lil warrenty with the dealer please let me know, or if you know where to get parts cheap that would be awsome too ... thanks alot !

well i have no clue about the lights but it might just be a short. The idle thing depends on what u think of as rough. I think my car is rough when it idles too but that just how it supposed to sounds. What did u drive before. Is it vibrating the car or just a sound taht worries u?
You will have to check what codes are stored with either a VAG-com or OBDII reader and get back to us with the numbers. Then we can let you know something useful.
Did the place you baought it from give you any warranty (eg 30 days?). If so take it back and have them fix it.

the idle is isconsistant, it ranges from 500 rpm then will go to around 7 .... and it vibrates enough to make the doors shake with there open ... i'll have to check about those codes when i go to the dealer on monday thanks...
