Default Help changing faulty Heater/Cooler fan?

Hi,

The Heater/Cooler fan on my A4 (1998 model, with continuously variable fan speed) has started to become really noisy - sounds like a bearing on the fan has gone. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Anyone know how easy it is to put a new one in? It sounds like the fan is located somewhere behind, or at least close to, the glovebox (my car is in the UK, so Right Hand Drive).

Any help/advice gratefully received.

John

I tried searching a little for your problem, but I came up empty handed on a solution. I'm sure it's not going to be an easy task to undertake.

Lots of parts removal for that one....not a simple repair....

The heater fan is behind the glove compartment. I live in the uk and having problems with my fan intermitent fault. To remove glove compart there is a screw on the right hand side of the glove compartment (inside glove compartment). Remove side panel to the left of console, the passenger door shuts up against it. Remove screws, and finally one screw at the top of glove compartment. Fan will be visible, the remainder of screws are visible and easy to remove.
