Default Help with driver's info display

Hello All!

New here, just moved over from the BMW camp (had an ’98 M3 for a number of years).

I’ve just purchased an A4 and have a quirk with the driver’s information display.

The bottom of the display doesn’t show what gear you are in (it doesn’t display anything at all). The rest of the display works, OAT, miles remaining, the Check cycle, etc.

Also, (related?) the trip computer only toggles between no display and the “miles remaining” function when you press the reset button on the wiper stalk. The function switch (the rocker switch on the end of the stalk) does nothing at all.

I’m hoping that it’s just a loose connector somewhere…

Third, there is no radio information at the top of the display – stock Symphony II/Bose radio/CD/tape unit installed. The owner’s manual implies that there should be.

I just picked up the car and haven’t had it to a dealer yet, but any tips on what to look for would be appreciated. I’ve got the Bentley CD on the way, but it’s not here yet…

Thanks for any input!

Try spraying the button on the end with RadioShack contact cleaner.

Do a search and youll see many of us have the same problem. Its a very well known issue. I heard that you can try to use a magnet to revive the pixels where the display box is in the dash. Im gunna try that tonight. Costs about $500 to replace, but whats the point if its going to happen again?

Since you are under warranty...I would just take it back...let the dealer...deal with it.
