i had to replace my tranny because of a rattling sound, they thought it was exhaust and engine mounts too at first, but that's just wishful thinking, they just don't want to tell you you need a new tranny. but do replace your engine mount regardless. my first gear was bad and i had to get a whole new transmission.

 

yeah might be tranny, well im fixing an exhaust leak first, then the engine mount $400AU) ...

then ill take it from there..

if it where the tranny wouldnt the noise be threw out every gear?

 

okay ive fixed the sound, it was a leak in the exhaust, whoevers had this problems thats what id reccommend, the leak was on the pipe gasket protector, hey how important is it to fix the driver side engine mount? could i leave it off for a few months or do it asap?

 

Not urgent, but I'd get it fixed. Shop around and get quotes from a few Audi shops for cost.
