help need with vag codes, thanx

thank you very much for that, one more last question if anyone could please provide me instructions on how to locate the upstream o2 sensor? (picture would be great if possible)

someone on another audi forum said it might be just the adaptor is not connected, might check it out before sending it to be changed... also might change it myself if i can get instructions, thanx in advance

Open your hood, find the turbo, and follow that back about 6 inches. It looks like a spark plug sticking out right before the cat. Just remove it with a slotted socket or an open end wrench and follow the wire. Install the new one, plug it in and clear the codes. Personally, I would do them both, but that's up to you.

thanx i really appreciate your reply, although i wish i had a turbo and all my a4 b5 is n/a, any tips there on locating the o2 sensor?

hi guys i think im getting closer to finding the 02 sensor, this is the only thing i can find that goes into my exhaust near the engine block.. is this the o2 sensor?

yes, that is the precat O2 sensor.

excellent, so what is the procedure to taking it out, do i have to unscrew it and remove the whole cable (Seems like a metre long) and or what exactly?

Autozone sells O2 sensor removers. Buy the kit, I think it's like 15 bucks, and they will buy it back from you when you are done. You will probably also need a universal joint and a long wratchet extension. Unplug the o2 sensor wire before you try to turn it. It may be in there good, but once it breaks loose it will be easy.

ok ive purchased a generic one, after university ill connect it, but what i can see is on the generic one i have 2 white wires (heater) and 1 black wire (signal) but on the audi theres 1 black 1 white 1grey. so what goes to what is my question now?
