Default Help!!! please problem with my a4:(

Hey guys

So i have this problem with my 2000 audi a4 quattro, and i cannot figure out what it is!

When i got to start my car up sometimes it just wont start, it will just keep cranking and cranking. I have had my battery tested and it is not that, and i know its not my starter, what else could it be??
id say about1 out of every 5 times i start my car it does this

and the really strange thing is i always try and get a jump from another car when this happins and then my car will alwasy start!(it may take a few tries but it willfire up)imm not sure if this is just lucky coincidence or something to do with it??

it sucks because i cant figure anything out, and i really dont wanna take it to the dealer if i dont have to, funds are low as i spend all my money on my car!
so i am asking for all your help if anyone knows of anything they can suggest that would be soo helpfull!!

thanks alot guys
Steve

(typea4): Maybe investigate the crank sensor, I was once stranded with the same syptom, engine turns, however no fire. If the engine is turning it is not the battery, or starter. As it turned out the crank sensor was faulty, so the ECM says no fire, based on the position of the crank. Could be the problem?

i had a similar problem with my saab and it turned out to be the check valve in the fuel system. when i let the car sit, the fuel would drain back into the tank. then when i went to start it, id have to wait for the fuel pump to pressurize the lines which took about 20 seconds of cranking.
