Help PRICE estimate!
My 97 A4 1.8T is at 122K and running on stock timing belt. It is 30K overdue, and should have been replaced at 90K. I am sending it in for a timing belt replacement, water pump, and check up. The shop estimated $650 cost including labor. It will be a fullday job.
I need peoples advice from experience on the cost of all this. Good price? Opinions?

If there is no way you can do it yourself thats not a bad price. If you did it yourself you would save about $300. It should have been done way before 90k miles too! i think 70k or so is what is recomended if you dont have the updated Tbelt tensioner which you deffinately dont have if it is the original belt. HURRY!
Check out a repair manual from the library if you don't have one and read about the procedure. Before I joined this forum I would've never considered changing my timing belt and now that I see so many people doing it, I'm definitely gonna take on the task myself.
That's very cheap... almost too cheap.. I'd be careful where you get that done.
Labor is 7-8hrs on an A4 timing belt. We have a low $65/hr labor rate, which equals $455.
Complete kits are usually about $290.
That totals $745.
This is an example of what we sell.

www.cimmotorsports.net did mine in 4 hours. This included warming the car up after completing the change and a test drive.
compared to a dealer price of $1100+ i'd say these are all great deals.
we also have a certified audi tech on board with 7+ years experience.. so there's no worry that it's done "hack-style".
