Blue book value should be more than fair. Just remember there are a crap load of Audis just like that one. You will always be able to find another. Just be patient.

I agree with jukeit...there are many 2002 1.8s around...probably a ton are starting to come off lease right now...so supply is on your side. Don't go higher than blue book...and you might check with a dealer, to see what they have w/warranty...and make them an offer.
Always be ready to walk away. There will always be another car that you'll like just as much.

Good luck!

at most that car is 23000 and thats still over paying i say 18 to 21000 would be a good number
give him an offer of 18000 and then work it up but dont go higher then 21000

this is the best way to buy a car from a private tell him your offer and say i'll give you (amount) rite now in cash for the car.

AND remember to have a trust mechanic look at the car and if u can test drive and get a car fax

Yeh every time you think you found THE deal, you should make sure you love everything about the car. Beacuse if you dont you will regret it later on. Their will always be another "GREAT" deal, or car that you really like. Because that car is highly priced, i would say go for 19,500 or 20,000 ( a little over blue book but its pretty highly priced and i dont think he wants to even drop it that much) any more then that i think you could do better.

That amount of money for that car is insane!!!!!!!!!!..... take several steps back and start looking more!!! And what every you do.... TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC!!!!! I don't care were you buy it .... dealer or private party.... spend the $50-100 and have it checked!! Carfax is a good thing but in most cases it will only tell you if the car was at one point TOTALED... most accidents are not totals and you don't want a car that has been in a good sized accident!!!! Any paintwork is a sign of something... minor or major.... Just watch your back!!!

The national average for that car at the Dealer Only Auctions is less than $19k..... (that is with 24k miles on one) you should easily be able to find one in the very low $20's if not below that with half the miles than that!!!!
