help quick!!!!!!!!
I need help quick!!!!
I was driving today on the highway and i was messing with a Mustang when i got off the exit i heard a LOUD TICKING sound which sounded like my valves but it was coming from the front of the engine where the timing belt cover was. When i popped the hood i noticed it sounded like valves with no oil just ticking. I drove away sice i was close to home and the sound disappeared. anyone have an idea of what could of happened. I it about 110mph on the highway.

RE: help quick!!!!!!!!
There are several possibilities. If you have sludge buildup on the oil pump screen (pickup) your engine may not have had adiquate oil supply at high RPM. One or more lifters could have collapsed temporarily causing the valve noise. I have seen this before but not on an Audi. The drop in pressure may not have been enough to activate the oil light.
There are other possibilities but my knowledge is not Audi specific.

RE: help quick!!!!!!!!
Im leaning towards lifters, or cracked exaust manifold, but if it went away it probably wasnt mani. Could also be that little thing on top of your airbox. I forget what its called but mine slowly started to click for a while...

Where you taking wild coners?
SInce you came off the Exit ramp and its a bit long,
it can coz some oil to move away from your pick up
due to gravit and coz it to run dry for a few seconds
I think race cars use a dry Sump system
Small capacity and has baffels in the pan to stop the oil from moving around
to much
