Default hey guys, got some newb questions...

i know you probably hear this a lot but due to my serious lack of any knowledge in audi's it does make it a little more difficult to find exactly what i'm looking for, i will keep searching but i'd also like a thread specific to my situation to keep some discussions going, if thats alright with you guys that is :P... anyway here goes...

the car i'm looking at is a 1998 A4, quattro, 1.8T, 5spd, tan leather, offwhite color, etc etc i'm sure you guys know all about'em :P... anyway i've already been told about the suspension TSB, but not to far in depth, anyone care to elaborate on what exactly it is? the damage it might cause? what needs to be replaced? any aftermarket solutions to avoid buying parts from audi? also i'd like to know how to differentiate between an A4 that has the forged internals, and ones that dont, is it a year thing? or something i'll have to look up by vin? and also anything else i might need to look into... the particular one i'm looking at has around 60K miles on it, and has already had the 60K mile checkup, and is SUPER clean...

also anything else you can think of to let me in on would be much appreciated, i'm basically just looking for some ammo to bring along with me when i go to check it out further and test drive it, anything specific to 98 A4's that i need to single out and look at first...

thanks in advance,

James

bump...

so far all i've found in the searches is that possibly all A4's up until 2002 had the forged internals? anyone care to confirm that? also on the suspension issue, i've found a lot of info on the bushings going bad, but from what i was told it is an over-all issue with the front control arms, if its just a bushing issue that could be taken care of rather easily, although i talked to the owner the other nite and she said there have been no suspension issues with the vehicle, and if the dealership that she brings it to all the time tells her something needs to be fixed, she'd have them fix it, so is the suspension thing kind of a hit or miss problem? or is it just something that is waiting to become a problem and hasn't shown itself yet?

again any help is greatly appreciated, i'm not finding exactly what i'm looking for in the searches so it would be nice to get some confirmations on what i'm thinking...

thanks again,

James

I know theres a recall that involves checking the lower control arm boots for tears. The uppers are the ones that always tear thou. They are kinda hit and miss.
