Default Hi. New A4 1.8t Tip owner here.

Hello Everyone,

Just bought a black A4 1.8T Quattro Tip a couple days ago and wanted to introduce myself. Please forgive my stupid moniker, but I'm a an old Street Fighter junkie... anyway, I know there are serious limitations on modding an auto trans but I just feel more comfortable driving it and I'm not really trying to take it to the track or smoke mustangs or anything like that, just sporty commuting. So, from reading the first 15 or 20 pages of posts I am going to need to get a K04 turbo upgrade (can't handle anything higher than that from what I have read) and a GIAC chip to really use it and probably also a tip chip for the .2 sec shift time. I know I'll also need to upgrade the DV as well. As far as suspension and exhaust I will have to read a bit more before I figure out what I want and what it actually translates to performance wise, but I've read a lot of post stating that a CAI is almost worthless (except for the aesthetics of making the engine look "cooler"). Also looks like I can't go above 18" rims without losing noticeable HP (and perhaps rubbing), but I think that is "pimp" enough for me anyway. I also liked the way those "demon eyes" (red) looked so maybe I'll get around to doing that as well. I'll probably skip the body kits but I might put a subtle spoiler on. I bought a 5 year 100k warranty from the shop that sold it to me and they said not to worry about voiding the warranty as long as I take it to them for the mods, so I should be good there. I'm probably going to have to head over to Iraq in a couple of months, so I don't think I'll really start modding until I get back, but I should have enough cash to do it all at once if I wanted. The thing is pretty fun to drive as is, so I'm not in a big rush to mod it just yet, especially since with the warranty I got I'll be having the thing for a while. Anyway, just wanted to say "Hi" and say that I have learned a bit from reading your posts. I think someone already answered this, but if I DID want to do a quick mod before I went the chip (not tip, but the other for the HP) along with the DV is the best first one for the cash, right?

thanks guys.

Welcome to forum. DV is the easiest and best mod but if you want to get K04 in the future, it is better to upgrade your DV with a forge DV. I think TT DV N710 will not be good chose for you.

Hi, welcome to the long slippery slope of modification.

You can replace the DV fairly cheaply, but you shouldn't notice any difference until you put in a chip or chip/K04 modification.

If you want to do something that will give you some difference before you do the chip/K04, I'd suggest the tip chip.
