Does the 1.8t motor have an oil cooler? Was one added because of the sludging issue, or have they always had one. The one on my B6 looks like an after thought. It looks like there are cooling lines going to a stamped steel unit that's mounted between the filter and the block. Just wondering.

Thanks, for the reply, I'm suprise I haven't heard more chatter on the board about upgrades to the cooler. Anything to decrease the under hood temp.

 

Use an engine oil that meets ACEA A3 or A5.

 

The cooler transfers the heat to the coolant rather than air under the hood.
