Thanks for the PM FezA4.

For the benefit of other members, I am posting the reply here so this info can be shared with others at the same time.

Here is his questions. "I was looking into buying a whole xenon kit for my A4, and I have an 04 a4 1.8T, just give me a pm on what ill need to know/get. "

My OEM RS6 xenon kit is extremely popular in the audi community and I have sold many many of them to a lot of audi folks on the internet. It can be installed on both B5 and B6. If all you are looking for is to re-use your existing headlight housing and then add a kit, then it should be a wise choice. It consists of D2S bulbs, D2S ignitors and ballasts. You can check the installation and some post-install pictures on http://www.oemhid.com

For all the B6 owners, I also have another alternative. I have a HID package which consist of a pairs of xenon D1S projectors, D1S bulbs and ballasts. All you need to do is to take the projectors unit out from your existing headlight housing and bolt the xenon projectors in there and then mount the ballast. Then you will have a 100% xenon setup. NOTE: This is not the whole housing.

Of course you can also go buy complete xenon housing and get oem a4 xenon stuff to go with that too. I have the oem a4 xenon stuff but that is a different topics.

Well Hell's bells! Hit some ice and slid into a gaurd rail! Already have estimates...about 1k.
But the headlight has to be replaced because it broke from the anchors. ANy suggestions?

Ok. If I get the E codes do I still need to get an HID kit or will they already have them?

There are two varieties of Ecodes... Halogen and Xenon. Both require you to Buy the HID kit seperately. Halogen ecode projectors work fine with xenon, but don't project nearly as nice of a beam pattern as xenon ecodes.

Halogen are like 350 bucks - These require modifications to fit the xenon DS2 bulbs into the H7 slot, plus some drilling to get the wiring from the ballasts to the projector.
- As demonstrated in the oemhid.com link.

Xenon ones are like ~500. - These are ready to accept DS2 xenon bulbs and ballasts with no modifications.

Perfect Jest! Clear as a bell. So if I want to do the work like you posted it is around 350.00 plus ballast; 150-200 +lights 60. So 550-600. Wow, that's alot of dough. Or add another 150 for the ecodes with no mods. so now we are at around 750.00.

Well what about just buying OEM US HID's to replace the housing? What are they running?

Halogen ecodes 350 + Xenon kit $200-300 = $550 -$650

Xenon ecoes 500 +xenon kit $200-300 = $700-$800

My setup cost me $309+$170 = $479
