HIDs or not - how do you tell?

Also, turn on the headlights and the foglights. Then turn off the fogs and watch how they fade out (park behind another car so you can see it in the reflection). Then turn off the headlights. If they also fade out like that, they're halogen. If they shut down instantaneously, like they just vanished, they're HID.

Audi factory xenon lights come with the auto-leveling feature. If you turn your lights on, you can usually see the light beam go up, down, then level out.

i dont want to sound like a dick but if you dont know if you have hids or not you shouldnt even touch anything on your car. when you turn your lights on they get brighter as they warm up and also you will hear a small clicking sound
