High idle reving - Audi A4 1996
Hi guys, I've got the 96 A4 (V6 2.6) and for a few months has been reving high constantly - 1600-1800revs. Since the mornings are cold here in Australia lately I allow time for the engine to heat up but even with it reaches the 90degree middle point and the thermostat opens it fluctuates between 1600-1800rpm. Under the odometer (where the trip meter usually is) I get the code 1n2 which appears when ignition is on and flashes when engine is on.
So far from the net I've gathered that 1n2 is simply a service light? But i have also read it is an engine management problem. Any ideas?
Cheers. Nick

Just read that 1n2 is the service code.
Though I'd also mention that the idle speed does correct itself very rarely to 800rpm. But this doesn't seem ot be dependent on air temperature or engine temp.
