Default High Milage Cars

Im in the market for a B5, preferably a 2001. BUUUT, ive seen a lot of cars reaching up towards 100k miles. Im just wondering from people that have cars with higher milages, what is the maintence like. Im coming out of a mk2 and an E30, and I want something that runs smoothly. Something you dont have to worry about breaking down on dates and stuff. I just hate dealing with tons of little BS problems. I can do my own maintence but im wondering how bad it is. Would I be better off looking for a low milage example? Im looking at a car with 93xxx, in the right area, for about 9500. QM 1.8t santorini. Thanks.

I've said this before, but the independent Audi mechanic I go to has an S6 with 400k+ miles on it and he says he has a few customers who are approaching that with other models. Of course he's had to replace some major parts, but I think a car with 93k miles is gonna last awhile. Mine has 95k now and I bought it with 82. You should definitely do some negotiating though b/c $9500 seems just a little bit high. Go for $8k. I haven't done many mods to mine yet (they're coming) but I expect to have it way past 200k unless I inherit some $$$ (in which case I'll upgrade to an S4).

Make sure timing belt was replaced, could cost from $700 to $1,200. Check engine for oil sludge. Control arms and wheel bearings are problem areas with these cars.
