Default Hmmm...Questionable

Today I went to go and get a quote for the chip im doing in 2 weeks... i was talking to him and because im going to be doing future turbo upgrades, i went with GIAC... anyways so im a tiptronic and he said that he would really like to install the tip chip at the same time, he said he wont install just the ecu chip becuase its going to put too much strain on the trans. i asked if i could just get the tip chip at a later date, and he said he seriously wouldnt recomend it and he didnt want to hurt the car... the guys really good and i trust him fully, hes very experienced and really good service... i was quoted $1138 for the chip, flash loader, stock program, tip chip, and labor... no tax included... hows this sound? or is he trying to sqeeze more $$ out of me?

tip chip just makes your shifts faster. dont do it if you dont need/want to or cant afford it yet.

yea he said that he refuses to install the chip without the tip-chip becuase he says it puts too much strain on the trans, and the last thing he wants the parts under warentee to get voided because of it... seems logical

I've not got 145K miles on my tip transmission. The last 65K have been with an APR chip. No problem at all.

Yeah, no kidding! I am going to by a GIAC chip for my B5 at the end of June, I got quoted $495 installed.
