Was just talking about this today with somebody! The bose system is pretty tight, bose definately has their act together. The speakers are capable of a lot more power than they get from the factory amp though, so, if you want an easy fix, just swap out the factory amp, for something like a JL 300/4. You americans can get a 300/4 for cheap... CDN's get ready to pay at least 800 or so. (retail is 1200). But yeah, feed more power to the speakers, and most people would be happy. Just for reference, the stock speakers, are apparently on par with a JL XR series component.

i'm confused, is it a 10" or a 12"? and did you mean 300 watt amp? i was thinking maybe a 5-600 watt amp. i like beats, alot, but i don't want to have to get a capacitator. and i DEFINITELY don't want my trunk to be rattling.

I have a pioneer dvd player w/ touchscreen and all the goodies and from what im hearing i cant install that without replacing all my speakers. I am also planning on getting a W7

but if i have to replace all my speakers, i will not be able to afford this sub. When i get an A4 i would will prob be with the bose system so i hope i will not have to replace the

speakers. My last car was a maxima with bose and tweeter installed the dvd player and my speakers sounded even better so i hope this will be the same with the audi.

It's because everything runs off a factory amp... the factory amp is the problem. Just gut your car, and re-wire it. That is my plan... I am going to run 3 pairs of RCA's to the trunk, as well as 0 guage wire. From the trunk, I am going to run fresh speaker wire to each of the speakers.

My parts:
head unit - alpine CDA-7897
sub amp - JL 500/1 500+ watts RMS
sub - JL 10w7 in HE box
speaker amp - Alpine MRV-540 80w x 4 RMS
speakers - Alpine SPX 137 R (5.25" comps) and rear 6.5" coax

It's going to be a big install... but I dont want to be hacking up wires, and bypassing the factory amp... it will be a nightmare. So, the biggest dilemma I will face, if its anything like previous cars... will be getting the speaker wire into the front doors... VERY frustrating in past experiences.

PS: I have some DVD player setup that came with my car... it has the receiver thing, a screen, and remote... if anybody is interested, let me know. It was in my car, working off the stock head unit. I have no idea how it was installed, because I havent removed it yet... but I dont want a dvd player in my car.

PPS: I also have the stock 6 disc changer, out of a 2000 audi... I think those are the 13 pin or what have you? make an offer. Have an alpine 12 disc changer as well, that I would sell -- it works with AI-net (sony, alpine) or M-bus.
