How to get rid of the CEL?
I think you should just get it fixed... you could be running lean/ and still think the car is running fine.........But if you absolutly want to get rid of it for a little while, you could try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes to clear the code. It will likely come back on after a few miles of driving.
if he is getting it cleared at az, and it comes back on that quick, probably the same with the battery trick....... what is the problem you are having? code....... and you said 2 grand to fix it? did you have a shop tell you what it is? you could almost buy a new enginge(used one) for that...... does that include parts and labor?
It's a fuvking cat problem, the dealer wants over 1k for each plus installation, and there are probably two that needs fix, so it's a fuvking 2.5k fix, how will i feel about that?
and I'm in fuvking CA, where there's fuvking tons of stupid laws on cat just like everything else, so hard to find a shop to do anything other than oem.

Oh yeah 3.0L cats always go bad, another reason i will never buy a 3.0L. Sorry to hear about that its gonna end up being more than 3k to repair so if you can't flip the bill thats what capital one is for baby!
Try aftermarket cats. There is at least one that is CARB approved, but I don't know if it is for the 3.0. Other alternative is to get a pair off a wreck.
No way you will pass california emissions with a bad cat. AND when they scan the codes, they scan for "system readiness". That means that if the car codes have been cleared recently, and the car hasn't been driven about 100-200 miles, they will give the car an automatic failure.
