oh and like said, a strait pipe exhaust is illegal, and extremely obvious. leading to getting caught in no time if you're not carefull.. and penalties for not running a catalytic converter is pretty harsh in most states
yeah i ran mine for a few days straight piped but had to put it back on. just too loud. it was so fun seeing people reactions tho i think i might get that cutoff switch for the exhaust so you can just switch between them at will. hopefully by then they will work the kinks out of the electronic ones

oh and sean, will going straight piped really add 10-15hp? your not losing too much backpressure? on a bt'd a4 i could see it helping but what about a k04 (running between 16-18 psi)

Dont be a d!ck just get a high flow cat at least, your a4 is no lambo anyways...no need to punish the earth over trying to get it to be at most a mustang. This coming from san diego...so ya. Cut that stuff out. If you want a fast car, buy an emissions semi-friendly burly car int he first place.

for what his current setup is, PC-16 w/ stock exhaust, yes. he's going to get A LOT better flow up top from removing the stock exhaust.. now if he was going from a borla catback w/testpipe, he would probably net about ~2hp..

loosing too much backpressure? haha, no, not at all.. in regards to hp on a turbocharged engine, zero backpressure is what you want. there is no problems with having zero backpressure.. i've heard though, that with some internally gated turbos, like the k03/k04, you will loose a little bit of low end torque. but still on those turbos. less backpressure means more hp.

btw, answering your PM in a minute

it is insanely loud. i only have 1 muffler on my techtonics exhaust so i took it off and it sounds like a turbo diesel at low end and a dragster when you floor it. at night if there's a cop within a mile or 2, he will hear you.

here's a vid of The Russian's car stragiht piped. mine actually sounded louder than his (i think cuz of the test pipe)

yeah i still have the stock cat in there for now and it is not that loud, kinda ncie, has a pretty deep tone to it, when i get some money for a test pipe i'm gonna throw that ont here and then do a rally setup with a high flow cat at the end instead of a tip, to give the turbo some more breathing room, and i still need to have it pass emissions because its going to be my daily driver in the winter and such

I was going to do a Y split to a dump pipe with a electric cut off butterfly plte until I find out that the mechanism can stick open or partially open or not close properly due to carbon buildup and you get exhaust leak.

So I plan to do the dump pipe anyway but have it bolted in place with wingnuts so I can open it up at the track to help the turbo spool.

yeah, and if everyone had that attitude, we'd have a big f*cking problem, wouldn't we.
