i just got a new rack installed, and my steering is COMPLETELY different. before, my steering was very, very loose, i could almost throw my steering wheel around...now, it's one of the stiffest cars with power steering i've driven...just wondering how yours all are?

 

Mine is really tight but my car only has like 13,000 miles on it so far

 

damn, you got lucky with a find like that...that's the perfect car for a BBT

 

Yea I know, I picked it up for 9,000 and the guy gave me a brand new borla full exhaust from techtonics tuning for free

 

My steering is tight.. i prefer it that way and my wife bitches sometimes because its too tight so she drives the other car and im totaly OK with that.

my stearing is heavy, so is my bro's. when i first got in his care before i had my own a4 i was like WTF does this have power stearing? ive never been in audi before so i didnt know it was planted so well.

 

whats a new rack? i feel like i know enough about cars to know what this is, lol.

oh man, bentframe, how much did you spend?
Last estimate I got was $950 for that job....
My steering has some play in the middle.... rattles when I go around bumpy corners....
pulls with the road....
I really really need a new rack, but planning on riding it out a little more.... til i can afford it[:@]

 

i paid just about that much actually....i had the same exact symptoms you're describing, and the new rack took care of all of it...it's so much nicer to drive now...i found a guy to sell me a new factory rack for 400 bucks (dealership sells em for 1200), and a guy to install it for me for another 400...well worth it though, imo...now all i need is my new suspension installed...i wish i didn't have to pay someone to do it, but i just moved to an apartment and have absolutely no where to work on my car anymore
