Just got my magnaflow muffler off of ebay, supposedly it was "brand new", opened it up only to find a nice size dent in the side of it. I'll post some pics later because i have to go to work. I bought it shipped for $145, should i return it or keep it?

 

well it shouldn't affect performance if it's not a deep dent but if your not in a hurry and shipping it backwon't cost you anything then you should go for it

 

ya, that one is totally up to you. no ones going to see the muffler, but if your a freak like me, then i would return it[8D]

 

if no one can see the dent than I really don't think it's a problem...

but if it really bothers you, ship it back

put it on your car anyway and leave the guy negative feedback. also email him and ask him to refundsome of your $ for sending a damaged part.

 

dont know if this is the same magnaflow muffler that i was looking at on ebay or not but there was one that said it was new but had gotten a dent in it somehow in shipping from the manufacturer to the seller. it included a picture of the dent and mentioned the dent in the auction description. maybe you just overlooked this info?

 

why would this make you hate ebay? its not perfect, people lie and are unethical... did you buy insurance? if not i would say tough titty said the kitty..

i sold a guy a small VW solar panel.... shipped and packed well.. USPS dropped something on it and broke it.... i offered a refund less my shipping costs and he said he wanted it all back and filed a paypal dispute... he won unbelievably but has to ship it back to me which is the same thing i originally offered him

ok im rambling but my point is, i dont hate ebay because of what one individual does......

Thats the muffler right there. It's a decent dent, i just got home from work so ill throw up some pics tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback guys, and Bogie i think i might just go ahead and do that.

 

I went through a similiar situation with the same seller. I guess he buys the damaged mufflers from magnaflow and sells them on ebay at a discount.

I bought a mid muffler from him that didnt have a dent and the second one i bought had a nickle size dent in it. I told him i wanted a new one so he said to ship that one back (at my expense) and he would send out a new one and only charge me for the shipping?!

I told him to forget it. I had already spent enough on my exhaust. I left truthful feedback for him saying that the item was damaged and he wants me to pay to ship it back and ship out the new one. He left negative feedback for me saying i damaged it after I received it and was trying to rip him off. Stay away from that guy he's a joker.

 

if you havent put it on yet, you might want to take it to a Paintless Dent Repair guy. They may be able to do something with it (glue pull maybe) although the material may be too hard. they prolly wouldnt charge you much or at all since its just a quick thing and cosmetics arent crazy important. i know i would give it a shot for free.
