i searched but no clear answer? oil for 2.8?

i was leaning toward 0-40 mobile one, but is that jsut for turbo engines. anyway my car is a 99.5 2.8q and i live in ny, and its spring now. SO plz what the best oil for now.

Go with the Mobil 1 0W-40. You should be able to change it every 10K mi.

okay so that was basicaly my question, the 0w-40 for a 2.8 engine is good right? because that was what i wanted but this forum was only talking about turbos so i wasnt for sure?

You can use any oil you want whether its a turbo or naturally aspirated, but if your switching from a heavier oil to 0 it might leak through the seals because its lighter.

I use amsoil 5w30. Since its gonna get hot pretty soon I say a 5w or 10w would be ideal.

I'm in upstate NY (as if you couldn't tell by my screenname heheh), and I am running 5W30 with no trouble. I figured a little extra viscosity wasn't a bad thing as I'm not revving the **** off my car all the time. Mine's a 99 2.8QM, virtually the same car as yours.

I have run 10w30 mostly in my 2.8. I just put in 10w40... seems about the same...

Honestly you can use whatever you want in there.
