I'm so pissed
I was driving home today and my steering column started smoking again. Every 6 weeks or so, one of the hot wires that leads to my ignition switch decides to overheat and burn up the switch and surrounding wires/harnesses.
So I know how to fix the problem as I do every time (this is the 3rd), but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what could cause a wire to continually overheat like this. I think I'm gonna have to trace the wire and see if it's shorting to ground somewhere. Any suggestions would be sssssooooooooo helpful. Thanks in advance.

Check to make sure you haven't got some wires getting crossed causing a short. Check your harness to make sure al the connectors are correctly separated and cannot touch each other. That would cause a wire to burn itself out pretty quickly.
Thanks for the help. Unfortunately the recall was only for '96 & '97. I've replaced that sucker twice and obviously there is some sort of underlying problem that needs to be addressed. I know in the harness that the wires are seperated enough, so it must be something further towards the battery. This is gonna take forever to figure out. [:@]
