INFURIATED, WHAT CAN I DO?
My wife bought a 2006 Audi A4 SLine (28,000) tonight. It is Audi PreCertified from an Audi Dealership.
On her way home from the dealership, IT FREAKIN BREAKS DOWN!
She said it started shaking and the check engine light came on.
She immediately called the dealership and they said to have it taken to the closest deal (which wasn't them) and acted like it was no big deal!
Any idea a) what might be wrong, b) what are our options as far as taking the car back?
Thanks,
Steve

Did the car die or did she turn it off? It sounds like it could be just coilpack(s) failing. If its certified, its garenteed and will be covered. But the coilpacks can easily go bad w/o notice
She is now in route to the house via a tow truck.
She said "It started shaking and the check engine light was flashing, so I pulled over and turned it off."
This ever happen to anyone?
Thanks for the quick replies.

CincyTT,
I just noticed your moniker, she bought it in Lexington and it is now getting towed to the Audi on Montgomery Rd. in Cincinnati.
I've been doing kamakaze research, and these coilpacks seem to keep coming up, are they a constant problem?
Thanks, I feel like I owe you a beer!

The packs are know to fail off and on. There has been several revisions all suck as much as the last. The hitachi packs seem to last longer than the bremi push down packs. If you look at the packs, they could simply of just poped up or have oil on them.
I am very familure with the Audi on Montgomery. Just dont go down the street and look at caddies and hummers

this actually just happened to me on the way home today. it didn't shut off but the cel came on and started blinking and the car started sputtering real bad. I'm in the process of trying to figure out what it is right now. https://www.audiforums.com/m_700630/tm.htm. I haven't got much info on it yet. I hope it is only a coilpack. if it is, i can change it out in minutes. if it isn't then i'm screwed cause i'm brokestatus for a while.
I'll probably get in trouble on this board for saying this, but this is one of the reasons I have primarily only owned Acuras. I have never had one inch of trouble EVER. I have one right now with 209,000 and all it needs is the oil change.
This is a terrible night, please tell us Audis good cars!!! We need the luck!
So with these coil packs, this just happens a lot?
Thanks

The coilpacks and mafs are problomatic at times. People blame just about everything on them and they usually just need cleaned or pushed down (coilpacks). If your on long enough, most people just yell out to buy new stuff without ever checking the current stuff or if thats truely the problem.
A honda is a honda. They make good parts and use it on a bunch of cars. I havent had any problems with my car except for the things i cause [X(]
