INFURIATED, WHAT CAN I DO?
Probably the coils. The same thing happenedwhen I had my2003 A4.
I now havean 2007 A4 quattro s line. Just two weeks ago it was idling really low& then really high.Took it to the dealer & they said it was the valves.

I'm having a hard time understanding this at all. It would be impossible to tell exactly what the problem is from the description, but for a 2006 it's a moot point. This is really a no brainer. The car should have been immediately towed back to the dealer she bought it from (regardless of how far away it was)and a loaner car provided to her to drive home. You shouldn't be the least bit worried about what is wrong with the car since it is CPO. It would be foolish to attempt to fix this problem yourself, especially not knowing what the problem is exactly. This is the dealer's problem.
A similar thing happened to my brother recently when he bought a 2005 Toyota. On the way home from the dealer it began smoking but ran okay. They made an appointment and took the car back the next day. They were given a brand new 2007 Toyota less than 200 miles on it while they diagnosed the problem. Turns out it had a blown head gasket. It was a close judgment call to keep the car or not but I told him this would be one less thing he'd have to worry about in the future (maybe after a warranty runs out). He now knows he has brand new head gaskets and still has the remainder of his warranty.
Good luck with that.

Here is an update:
The car was towed, she paid the $234 towing expense (will allegedly be reiumbursed by Audi of ______). The Audi dealership near us said they are too busy to look at it, so the dealership in ____ is sending a technician up here to work on it.
I am looking through her paperwork to see how we go about getting this car taken back PERMANANTLY to the dealership.
The original dealership (and a legit Audi dealer) is not being very understanding.

Just let them fix it and enjoy.
Its a car, a mechanical machine. All vehicles have things that need fixed at some point. I'm not saying that audi coil packs do not suck, but at least you are covered under warranty.
Audi's are usually pretty reliable vehicles when properly maintained, so in the long run you should be OK. Its a great vehicle, not as reliable as a honda, but so much nicer that its worth the trouble.
Good luck. Once you start driving it for a while, you'll have a hard time going back from german cars, they just seem superior in so many other ways.

metal bends and bones break and you cant weld bones lol let them deal with it as long as they provide you with a service car of the same quality or better ( that's what they normallydo to get you thinking on the newer cars
),
),
Check the service history and see if they installed spark plugs, the coils suck yes, but its very easy to break them as well by prying up on them with a screwdriver to change the plugs.
