car info: 98 2.8 30v qattro 5spd manual 112000 miles.... The car runs *ok* ,ruff idle... but thats not my issue at the moment...

The issue: I was driving yesterday and when I went to break the instrument cluster display (that we all know is a piece of sh*t because audi can engineer a car but not the electronics.) beeped and put up an error or "yellow" screen where the radio is usually displayed.....

I have a the free unreged vagtool, I was wondering if I can get the error off of the broken display using vag tool.... and where to go about doing that? btw I did get outta my car and looked and my break lights and the rest of the car had a once over and I cant find a damn thing wrong other then the warning beep its self,and its annoying , well that and the damn lcd display

 

Go into instrument cluster, module 17, sometimes faults for warnings are stored in the fault memory there.
